For those who don’t know, I am Alex Smith, Web Developer here at Ninthlink, but outside of saving the world, one web page at a time, I also play bass guitar for San Diego’s own The Modlins. And in keeping with the themes of Discovering New Ideas and Promoting Great Concepts, I feel obliged to give another update on The Modlins. The last update was two weeks ago, and since then, we’ve been hard at work, mostly making sure that I have as little “free time” as possible, after work. On that note, if you are looking for a place to dine tonight, Tuesday the 26th, look no further!
Tonight, the Modlins are set to play the Cafe La Maze steakhouse in National City, which is really just a few short minutes south of Downtown San Diego. And for all the vegetarians who cringe at the “steakhouse” (hi Craig), they have a delicious Pasta Prima Vera dish, plus possibly the best garlic mashed potatoes I’ve had, AND a nice variety of drinks, if you find your whistle in need of wetting. Next week, to further support the SDMA ‘Best Pop Album’ -nominated With Friends Like These, The Modlins have two more very special shows scheduled:
Thursday, September 4th, at the San Diego Sports Club on University Ave (now under new ownership), The Modlins, plus friends Joanie Mendenhall and Matt Curreri & The Exfriends, will each play their nominated albums, in their entireties! Then, the next night, Friday the 5th, The Modlins head up to Los Angeles’ Knitting Factory, to play as part of a birthday celebration for their friend Justin Riner of LA band Loverlee.
