Like the famous frog said, "It ain't easy being green." Anything good and worthwhile requires effort, and with those labors come the rewards and knowing, well, that what you're doing is good for the planet and good for all the living things inhabitating the planet, whether these living things are walking on two, four, six, or eight legs, swimming in the oceans and lakes, flying in the air, or rooted in the ground. This includes those living things inside vehicles, going from point A to point B and back.

Maybe those vehicles don't always have to be used. Turn four wheels into two, ride a bike to work instead. The Team at Ninthlink has asserted this effort with its new inner-office bike rack, for employees to place their bikes and ride to work, saving on gas, advocating health, and putting just a little less smog emissions into our city.

Sometimes people say, "I'm just one person, what can I possibly do to help the envionment?" Every little bit counts. No matter how small or how large the effort, it all adds up! Green clothes, green furiniture, green food, green products, green energy, green thoughts -- THINK GREEN. Thoughts are things, thoughts are energy, thoughts are reality -- thinking green is a way to create green in the world.

The world whispers its green intent to us everyday...we just need to pause and listen. The team at Ninthlink has chosen to listen. Yet we had to slow down and stop in order to do so. We had to be willing to miss the train (and trolley!) if it meant learning something, even if just for the day. The whispers are there, waiting for us to notice them. But only if we’re open to turn our own volume down, even if only for a brief moment in time...the green whispers will tell us what to do.

"Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises."
--Pedro Calderon de la Barca

"When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir?"

Well, what do you do when your Search Engine Marketing initiatives are fine-tuned and driving great traffic? Your Banner advertisements are optimized and achieving great click-through rates? And your overall online strategies have seemed to plateau?

The team at Ninthlink is recommending that clients consider the rapidly growing trend and success of what people now call PR 2.0.

From our initial collaboration and success with clients on viral marketing strategies (contests, funny videos, cool content), email newsletters, e-blasts, online press releases, and more, the demand for more innovative ideas and strategies to drive traffic toward websites has rapidly become an intrinsically popular topic.

We recently picked up a book called PR 2.0 by Deirdre Breakenridge which has some great insight into the emerging new ways people are interacting with brands and online content. The great value in the book is how it clarifies and bridges the gap between the PR strategies of the past and the PR that methods that will be implemented in the near future.

We'd like to share some New Media/Multimedia items for great discussion:

• "Interactive Newsrooms" – If you don't have one, build it. Download Sample (http://www.shiftcomm.com/downloads/smr_v1.5.pdf)

• Why Video, Podcasts, Vlogs, Webinars, RSS feeds, downloadable images, presentations, Wiki, and even sources beyond what your brand can offer are important for today's multimedia world.

• "Social Media News Releases" – Planning and building NOW can save your brand a lot of time and resource.

•"Social Networking" – Are you encouraging and leveraging some of the most popular forums like LinkedIn, MySpace, Facebook and other social media channels? (http://www.shiftcomm.com/downloads/smprtemplate.pdf)

Lately, we have been surprised to learn just how many people from all ages, professions, and locations are using social networking sites; they have or visit blogs and vlogs and forums daily, use RSS for the syndication of information, and are signed up for more than 10-20 email newsletters from their favorite brands and companies.

Okay, enough about some of the exciting new ideas and trends in PR 2.0. The BIG question we are getting in meetings with clients is this: "So how do I get started?"

Here is basic punch list of what we have been recommending to clients who are serious about their brand growth and promotion:

1) Define the brand's challenges/problems (What does Success look Like?)

2) Research the market landscape (Who is doing it Great!)

3) Define your brand story and why it is important (What is your story?)

4) Create your PR 2.0 Plan (What are creative ways to tell story)

5) Design & Develop your website to support WEB 2.0/PR 2.0 features & functions. (Get it out there)

6) Roll Up Your Sleeves – and Get'er Done! Have Fun. Celebrate Frequently. (Enjoy Success)

If you have ideas and would like to learn more please comment on this topic.

Bottoms Up Diaper Drive

This month, the Ninthlink Team is hosting a drive for SAY San Diego called The Bottoms Up Diaper Drive.

SAY San Diego is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the positive development of young people, their families and communities in San Diego County. SAY's primary services include: Delinquency Prevention and Juvenile Diversion; Before and After School Programs and Licensed Child Care for school age children; Family Support and Development Services; Health Promotion Services; Community Development and Collaboration; School Readiness and Support Services; Child Abuse Prevention program; Drug Prevention Services and Mental Health Services.

The Bottoms Up Diaper Drive is an annual event and effort to aid families with small children and infants in need during the holiday season. The sometimes harsh but true reality is that there are many, many families here in San Diego that are in need year-round.

The purpose of the drive is to hopefully make life a little easier for these families by providing essential items for the children that might otherwise, for one reason or another, be difficult to obtain.

How YOU can help.

The drive is from Monday, July 21st through Tuesday, July 29.

What is needed?

Donations of diapers, baby formula, and toddler/infant toiletries such as combs, lotions, wipes, pacifiers, soap, shampoo, etc. will be accepted right here at the Ninthlink offices located at 625 Broadway Suite 611, San Diego, CA 92101.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email cause@ninthlink.com

Thank you for all your help and please know that it is greatly appreciated.

Ronald McDonald House Drive

In August, the Ninthlink Team will host a drive for the Ronald McDonald House San Diego Chapter.

Ronald McDonald House is a "home away from home" temporary lodging facility for the families of seriously ill children that are being treated at nearby hospitals. There are more than 276 Ronald McDonald Houses in 30 countries across the globe, from Argentina to New Zealand. More than 300,000 volunteers provide the backbone of the program, helping with all aspects of the operation, from fundraising, program development, and services to families. Last year, volunteers contributed nearly three million hours of support time for the Houses.

Families staying at Ronald McDonald Houses are asked to make a donation ranging from $5 to $25 per day; if this is not possible, their stay is free. Many times, these families are in need of everyday items that make life easier.

The drive is an effort to get some of these items to the families. Below is a "Wish List" that the Ronald McDonald Houses have provided:

Kitchen• Paper towels• Plastic storage containers (Glad, Ziploc, Tupperware)• Plastic to-go containers • Ziploc storage bags (snack size)• Paper or plastic plates and bowls• Plastic forks and spoons• Knives General• Gift cards – Costco, Albertsons, Target, Staples, gas stations• Laundry detergent (powder)• Dryer sheets Gifts• Portable DVD players• Socks and underwear (for children and adults) • T-shirts, shorts and sweatpants (adult medium – xxxlarge)• Hairbrushes and combs Cleaning & Maintenance• Soft scrub• Furniture polish• Light bulbs• Lysol and Clorox
